Meghan’s Story

When Meghan was diagnosed with Stage 2B triple-positive breast cancer at age 34, life was already in the middle of a major transition.

Just three weeks after receiving her diagnosis, she and her family were preparing to move across the country from Washington, D.C. to San Diego with their two young children, ages 2 and 4.

What should have been an exciting new chapter quickly became a whirlwind of scans, appointments, treatment planning, packing boxes, and difficult conversations. Within days of arriving in San Diego, Meghan began chemotherapy.

Looking back, one of the greatest challenges wasn't just the cancer itself—it was navigating treatment while caring for two young children.

While her husband made the difficult sacrifice of commuting long hours for work so the family could begin building their new life in San Diego, Meghan often found herself juggling oncology appointments, seven-hour chemotherapy sessions, daily radiation treatments, and the demands of motherhood all at once.

"My very first appointment with my oncologist, I had to bring my kids with me," she recalls.

Through it all, her husband remained a constant source of love and support. Together, they faced each challenge as a family, leaning on one another through the uncertainty of treatment and the demands of raising two young children.

There were days when simply getting through the day required every ounce of energy she had.

Yet through every setback, her children also became her greatest motivation.

"They were the driving force that pushed me to keep going," she says.

Over the years, Meghan underwent chemotherapy, radiation, a double mastectomy, more than a dozen surgeries, and ten years of hormone therapy, which she completed in 2025. Along the way, she discovered the incredible power of community.

She first connected with Be Well through a survivor retreat and quickly found comfort in a place where she could simply be herself.

"Being in a Be Well class was a moment of comfort in an otherwise very uncomfortable time in my life."

The classes offered physical relief from treatment side effects, but even more importantly, they provided understanding, acceptance, and connection during some of her most difficult years.

What has stayed with Meghan most is the care she experienced beyond the yoga mat. During periods when surgeries kept her away from class, Be Well teachers checked in, visited her, and reminded her she wasn't facing the journey alone.

Today, Meghan is cancer-free and living in survivorship. She is also the proud mother of three, including what she lovingly calls her post-cancer miracle baby.

Cancer changed her life in countless ways, but it also taught her what matters most.

For Meghan, survivorship means recognizing that every day is a gift, cherishing the people you love, and choosing gratitude even after life's hardest challenges.

"Living every day to the fullest and spreading love and gratitude wherever I go."
