Lora’s Story
Lora has always been someone who loves staying active. Whether hiking local trails, swimming, cooking for loved ones, or creating family traditions, movement and connection have always been important parts of her life.
So when she was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer in January 2024, one of the hardest adjustments wasn't just the diagnosis itself—it was the impact treatment had on her ability to do the things she loved.
Chemotherapy left her exhausted and depleted. As someone accustomed to an active lifestyle, slowing down was one of the greatest challenges she faced.
"It was hard to stay motivated," she recalls. "But taking care of myself remained a top priority."
Throughout treatment, Lora was surrounded by an incredible network of support. Family, friends, and loved ones rallied around her with meals, prayers, phone calls, and constant encouragement. She never had to face her treatments alone.
After chemotherapy and a double mastectomy, Lora found herself struggling with a new challenge that many survivors understand well: anxiety about recurrence.
When she shared those concerns with her oncologist, she was introduced to Be Well Therapy.
Her first experience was a Sunday Sanctuary sound healing class, and she knew immediately she had found something special.
"I felt like I had found my people," she says.
The acceptance she felt that day has remained with her ever since. Within the Be Well community, she found a place where she didn't need to explain herself or her experiences. She was simply understood.
For Lora, Be Well has provided both physical healing and emotional support, but perhaps most importantly, it has given her a community where she feels comfortable, accepted, and connected to others who understand the realities of cancer survivorship.
One piece of advice has stayed with her throughout her journey. Shortly after her diagnosis, she questioned how cancer could happen despite years of healthy living. Her principal listened and responded with words she never forgot:
"That's what is going to pull you through this."
Those words became a source of strength during treatment and a reminder to continue caring for herself, even on the hardest days.
Today, Lora defines survivorship in a simple but powerful way.
"Every day is a gift," she says.
For her, survivorship isn't just about overcoming cancer—it's about embracing life, appreciating each new day, and continuing to move forward with gratitude.
