HEIDI BORSCH - ERYT-200/RYT-500
CERTIFIED YOGA OF THE HEART INSTRUCTOR
CERTIFIED MELT METHOD INSTRUCTOR
The challenge and excitement of personal exploration is woven into every one of Heidi Borsch’s yoga classes. A Los Angeles native with North Dakota roots, Heidi’s enthusiasm for yoga began in 1991. With 22 years of on-again off-again personal practice at local gyms, she took the layoff from her sales job in 2011 as a sign – it was time to do something she loved.
In 2012, Heidi became a RYT 200, graduating from the yoga teacher training program at True Nature School of Yoga. She completed an additional 300 hour program through the Soul of Yoga in 2014 earning the designation ERYT-200/RYT-500. Heidi also completed a specialized 100 hour “Yoga of the Heart” cardiac and cancer certification. This was to fulfill a calling she had to help those living with cancer (and heart disease) and their caregivers. Heidi lost her mother at the young age of 56 to cancer followed by both of her grandmothers to the same disease. Heidi knows first hand the ups and downs of living with the disease and the toll it can take on patients and their caregivers.
Heidi is also a certified MELT instructor, a self-treatment for the connective tissue and neurocore. Along with Hand, Foot, and Roller Treatment Training, Heidi is also one of only a handful of instructors nationwide to be certified in MELT Strength: a combination of neuromuscular repatterning and strengthening techniques to repair the weak links that damage joints and prevent the body’s ability to function pain-free.
Heidi is the co-founder and CEO of Be Well Therapy Inc. She begin Be Well in 2014 with Mary Baker out of a passion and desire to help the cancer community heal after often a devastating diagnoses of cancer. The two have also designed at 55-hour Yoga Alliance accredited Yoga for Cancer Recovery teaching program and graduated in their first year (2017) 28 certified teachers.
In addition to being one of the owners of Be Well and teaching their Yoga for Cancer Recovery classes, Heidi also teaches yoga and MELT classes at Yoga Branch in Vista, CA, Yoga Bound in Carlsbad, CA, and Black Sheep Yoga in Oceanside, CA. Heidi currently teaches a Be Well Yoga for Cancer Recovery class on Tuesdays at Yoga Six in Carlsbad.
In her free time, she loves to walk to the beach, paint rocks, stand up paddle board, and cultivate her whimsical garden.
MARY BAKER - ERYT-500
CERTIFIED YOGA OF THE HEART INSTRUCTOR
CERTIFIED YOGA4CANCER TEACHER
Mary has been a teacher for most of her adult life – teaching summer camp in college and then becoming a credentialed elementary teacher for many years. Teaching yoga, however, is truly the best teaching experience she can imagine! Students come to yoga class wanting to learn, eager to explore, and are happy to be there!! Mary loves to connect with her students on a personal level, to help them find greater comfort and ease in their bodies, and to guide them on their yogic journey as their practice deepens.
Yoga has been a true life saver for Mary – she began her 200-hour teacher training in 2009, the same year both of her parents were diagnosed with terminal cancers. Mary credits her yoga practice with giving her the physical, mental, and spiritual strength she needed to face such a challenging time. She truly believes that yoga gives us the courage to face our fears, the flexibility to embrace change, and the present mind awareness to find joy in each and every day.
Mary completed her 500 hour yoga teacher training in 2013 with True Nature School of Yoga. She then completed a specialized 100 hour “Yoga of the Heart” cardiac and cancer certification. This was to fulfill a calling she had to help those living with cancer (and heart disease) and their caregivers. She has also completed an additional 50 hours of training in Yoga4Cancer - a technique developed by cancer survivor and master teacher, Tari Prinster.
In addition to being one of the owners of Be Well and teaching their Yoga for Cancer Recovery classes, Mary also teaches yoga at Yoga branch Vista Village in Vista, CA; Yoga Branch in Vista, CA; Re:form Yoga in Carlsbad, CA; Black Sheep Yoga in Oceanside, CA; and multiple 24 Hour Fitness locations. Mary currently teaches a Be Well Yoga for Cancer class Thursdays at Yoga Six in Carlsbad.
When she is not teaching, she loves to spend her time in the kitchen baking tasty treats to share with others. She also enjoys ocean kayaking, cross country skiing and curling up on the couch with a good book and her warm furry friends.
